RFT was awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant in 2005 designed to impact middle and high school students using both our web based academic programming, Extralearning Online (ELO), and our summer college campus based experiential programs. These same modules are available to current 21 CCLC applicants, as RFT would much rather be a partner in the grant rather than the general manager of these grants.
Surry, Virginia Partnership
For more than 7 consecutive years RFT partnered with the Luther P. Jackson Middle School in Surry, Virginia. Our summer college programs to the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) and the US Naval Academy served as one of the motivational outcomes for the program participants. An example of student and teacher/chaperon responses to these annual programs can be seen at- look in Admin@RFT.org folder for responses.
RFT can partner with your 21st Century Grant
We are able to work closely with any 21 CCLC applicant to provide a cost effective and measurable evidence based academic program as well as a measurable summer experience locally, within the state, or at any college campus. RFT offers both an academic and experiential component that are jointly linked or they can be provided as stand alone modules for your proposal.
RFT is able to customize the ELO program to follow a local school system’s syllabus thus aligning ELO to the local curricula. RFT has secured state board of education approvals in 17 states under the provisions of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) to use ELO for eligible student remediation, enrichment, and credit recovery. These states include CA, AK, TX, CO, KS, OK, MT, LA, AR, IL, FL, VT, NY, VA, PA, MD, and GA. Our third party evidence based outcomes can be reviewed at LINK TO DR. TRAMMELL’s REPORT.
